Match an output to an input

Your television needs an audio output that matches an input on the soundbar. Check the labels and the manuals for both devices. A USB port intended for charging or media playback is not automatically a TV-audio connection. Do not assume HDMI ARC or optical input is present unless the exact soundbar specification confirms it.

Plan the position and cable route

Measure the available width and height beneath the screen. Avoid covering a TV sensor or placing the speaker where the screen blocks it. Think about the power socket and audio cable route, including whether the supplied cable is long enough. Confirm wall-mount hardware separately if you need it.

Decide how you want to control volume

Ask whether you will use the soundbar’s buttons, a supplied remote or your television’s controls. Compatibility depends on the connection and equipment. If Bluetooth is your planned connection, check that the television supports compatible Bluetooth audio output; phone connectivity alone does not prove TV compatibility.

Check dialogue with your normal programmes

If you can listen before buying, include a programme with speech as well as music. Keep the demonstration at a normal listening level. A soundbar’s overall usefulness depends on your room and source material, so a catalogue power figure should not be the only deciding factor.

Confirm the complete package

Share the full article number and ask about the power supply, remote, audio cables, warranty process and colour. Similar model names may have different suffixes. Keep the written confirmation with your order so the delivered package can be checked against it.
